NSB (National Science Bowl

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Science Bowl® is a nationwide academic competition that tests students’ knowledge in all areas of science and mathematics. Middle and high school student teams from diverse backgrounds are comprised of four students, one alternate, and a teacher who serves as an advisor and coach. These teams face-off in a fast-paced question-and-answer format, being tested on a range of science disciplines including biology, chemistry, Earth science, physics, energy, and math. The You Be The Chemist Challenge® (YBTC Challenge) is an interactive academic competition, based on the Benchmarks for Science Literacy and the National Science Education Standards, which engages grade 5–8 students in learning about important chemistry concepts, scientific discoveries, and laboratory safety.

Students participating in the Challenge must not have passed beyond the 8th grade on or before April 1, 2016, must not have reached the age of 15 on or before July 1, 2016 and must not have declared to another entity an academic classification above the 8th grade.
